چکیده

Biometric features such as face, iris, voice, retina, handwriting and fingerprint plays an important role in security for authentication. Among biometrics, fingerprint systems have been one of most widely researched and deployed because of their easy access and low price of fingerprint sensors. Nowadays, for personal identification automatic fingerprint recognition is preferred due to their reliability and uniqueness features. Traditional minutia based and pattern based techniques face difficulty in extraction of minutia points and patterns in fingerprints. This paper proposed an efficient feature extraction technique for fingerprint recognition based on Orthogonal Polynomial based Transform. Statistical analysis on the fingerprint image is done and a candidate region suitable for feature extraction is selected. This region is subjected to the Orthogonal Polynomial Transform and transform coefficients obtained forms the feature vector. These feature vectors act as representatives for a fingerprint image and recognition is done using Support Vector Machine. Index Terms — Biometrics, fingerprint recognition, Orthogonal Polynomial Transform, Support Vector Machine.

Fingerprint Feature Extraction Using Hough Transform and Minutiae Extraction

Fingerprint recognition is done with minutiae points and non-minutiae points but, here minutiae points are used for fingerprint recognition. A fingerprint is collection of many ridges and furrows (Valleys). The continuous dark pattern flow in fingerprint is called ridges and the light area between ridges is called furrows. Fingerprint has some unique points on the ridge which is known as minuti...

Symmetric PH and EP Distributions and Their Applications to the Probability Hough Transform∗

In this paper, we first introduce a symmetric phase type (PH) distribution, and then propose a symmetric exponential-polynomial type (EP) distribution based on the symmetric PH distribution. The class of symmetric EP distributions is illustrated to be so large that an arbitrary symmetric probability density function in L2(−∞,+∞), which is the space of square integrable functions on the real lin...

Biometrics : Analysis of Fingerprint using Hybrid Transformations

A biometric system is a secured recognition system that is used for the establishment of the personal identification of the individuals using their biometrics which are unique features and make the system more authentic. Our aim, here is to build such a system which gives more accurate confirmation of the individual identities. In this paper, we have used one biometric trait i.e. fingerprint fo...

Improving the Ridge Based Fingerprint Recognition Method Using Sweat Pores

Among several biometric traits possible to be used for people identification, fingerprint is still the most used. Current automated fingerprint identification systems are based on ridge patterns and minutiae, classified as first and second level features, respectively. However, the development of new fingerprint sensors and the growing demand for more secure systems are leading to the use of ad...
